- Abstract
- Structual biology beamlineⅡ (BL40B2) was opened for public users of protein crystallography and small angle X-ray scattering experiment from Nov 1999. The X-ray source of BL40B2 is a bending magnet and mirror-focused monochromatic energy is altered from 7 keV to 18 keV. For protein crystallography, fixed-exit beam is useful to collect MAD experimental data. As a detector, a imaging plate system and a CCD camara for protein crystallography have been installed and its exchange system is also prepared. User-friendly software to change wavelength is installed. For advanced users of protein crystallography, a technical training course for MAD experiment was held at June 2000.

- Abstract
- The surface structures of Pd monolayers electrochemically deposited onto Au(111)and Au(001)have been studied by surface X-ray diffraction. On the Au(111)and Au(001)electrode surfaces, Pd forms a pseudomorphic and smooth monolayer. Such a growth mode under the electrochemical condition is ascribed to the lifting of the surface reconstruction of the Au substrate.
