SPring-8 has two machine shops: 1st Machine Shop and 2nd Machine Shop.
To use these machine shops, users must first attend Machine Shop Safety Classes to learn how to use the machine shop instruments.

1st Machine Shop
Requirement: 1st Machine Shop Safety Class
Place: room D18 of the storage ring building
Equipments: bench drilling machine, band sawing machine, shearing machine, lathe machine, bench milling machine, and hack sawing machine
Hours open: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays
2nd Machine Shop
Requirement: 2nd Machine Shop Safety Class
Place: the Accelerator and Beamline R and D Facility
Equipments: universal milling machine, lathe machine, boring machine, upright drilling machine, bench drilling machine, band sawing machine, circular sawing machine, shearing machine, holding machine
Hours open: 9:30 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays
