Privacy Policy
The User Administration Division of Japan Synchrotron Radiation Institute (JASRI) has instituted the following privacy policy to ensure that any personal information of each SPring-8/SACLA user and participants of JASRI-sponsored events (hereinafter referred to as “User”) is handled safely and responsibly.
Uses of personal information
Some of the ways JASRI may use the personal information of a User, such as their name, e-mail, and contact information, include the following.
- To ensure the efficient use of facilities and services available at SPring-8/SACLA
- To identify the User when providing online services (online proposal applications, online registration of publications, etc.)
- To provide the User with information on SPring-8/SACLA
Disclosure of personal Information
JASRI will not disclose personal information to third parties without user consent unless otherwise required by judicial, administrative, and other similar public agencies.
Management of personal information
JASRI has appointed personal information administrators in the divisions handling personal information to ensure the appropriate management of such information.
Internet security
1. SSL
The User Information Website uses secure socket layer (SSL) encryption technology to protect personal information. If you use an SSL-compatible browser, the personal information you provided, such as name, address, and phone number, will be automatically encrypted when it is transmitted.
Should the data be intercepted by a third party, SSL prevents the data from being read or modified. (Because of the characteristics of the Internet, JASRI cannot warrant or guarantee 100% security in data transmission, thus you are advised to take every precaution to protect personal information when you are using the Internet. For example, change passwords often and inform JASRI promptly of any possibility of unauthorized use of personal information.)
2. System protection
JASRI’s systems are equipped with multiple checking systems and firewalls to prevent unauthorized access. In addition, JASRI limits its employee access to personal information as an internal security measure.
Collection and analysis of access logs and use of cookies
Google Analytics, a service of Google LLC, is used in order to understand the status of utilization of this website, and to improve the contents and services. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information on browsing activity for this website.
User information recorded and/or analyzed using Google Analytics contains absolutely no information by which specific individuals can be identified.
