Conditions of Use of SPring-8/SACLA Proposal Submission System

These Conditions of Use apply to the Web-based Proposal Submission Service (Service) provided by the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI). Before using the Service, please be sure to read through and agree to these Conditions of Use. By using the Service, you agree to these Conditions of Use.

Article 1 (Definition)

Under these Terms of Service, any individuals who register their personally identifiable information with JASRI (including users of the For Users Page) are defined as Users.

Article 2 (ID, password, and security)

  1. JASRI issues a user card ID number (ID) to identify Users and to offer a secure Service to Users. Users are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their ID and password.
  2. It is the User’s responsibility to maintain the security of the ID and password provided by JASRI. Users shall not give or rent them to third parties.
  3. Any action performed using an ID and password owned by a User shall be considered as being performed by the User. Users shall notify JASRI immediately of any unauthorized use of their ID or any leakage of their ID and password to third parties.

Article 3 (Unauthorized activities)

While using the Service, Users agree not to

  1. infringe the property rights, privacy, honor, and any other rights of other Users, JASRI, and third parties;
  2. violate any applicable law, regulation, or public policy;
  3. interfere with the operation of the Service;
  4. allow unauthorized use of the ID and password;
  5. use or provide, in relation to the Service, any material that contains a virus or other harmful code;
  6. reproduce, republish, transmit, give, rent, translate, reprint, sublicense, reverse engineer, or disassemble any portion of the Service except for the content identified as being licensed from the User;
  7. perform any other activities that are deemed inappropriate by JASRI. 

Article 4 (Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability)

  1. The Service is provided on an “as is” basis and JASRI makes no guarantees as to the completeness, reliability, efficacy, and fitness for any particular purpose.
  2. JASRI backs up data registered with the Service on a regular basis in the manner prescribed by JASRI. If data is lost or damaged due to problems with the medium storing the data, JASRI will do its best to restore the data to the extent possible from the backup. 
  3. JASRI assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred by Users resulting from the use of the Service. In the event of any loss or damage to JASRI or a third party arising out of a User’s use of the Service, the User shall resolve the problem at their own expense and effort and shall indemnify JASRI from any claims, damages, costs, or expenses. 

Article 5 (Revisions to registered information)

In the event that information registered in this Service by the User changes, the User shall promptly update the registered information in this Service. JASRI shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage, such as the User not being able to use this Service because of JASRI not being able to transfer information, which may occur as a result of the user not updating their registered information. 

Article 6 (Handling of registered information)

IWhen a User uses this Service, JASRI shall store the registered information for a certain period of time. Requests to cancel a registration are not accepted except for cases of duplicate registration. Furthermore, a registration may be deleted as determined by JASRI in cases of duplicate registration or lack of regular use of this Service.

Article 7 (Revisions to these Conditions of Use)

The contents of these Conditions of Use may be revised without prior or subsequent approval of Users as determined by JASRI as needed. By using this Service after the revision, the User shall be deemed to be in agreement with such revision. 

IIn the event of a revision to these Conditions of Use, JASRI shall make a notification or announcement to Users of such revision in a way considered appropriate by JASRI, such as publication on the website (User Information).
